Sihina (means dreams in the Sinhala language) is a private villa where we wanted to create a unique, exclusive and secluded getaway, a place where we could spend quality time with family and friends in an environment that reflected our personal tastes and life style. The villa was designed by reputed architect Channa Daswatte, an understudy of Sri Lanka’s world renowned architect Geoffrey Bawa.
Sihina is a 5 bedroom villa situated in Kosgoda , showcasing contemporary tropical modernist architecture. It is built on a sprawling extent of land thereby providing large garden spaces. The villa is surrounded by lush greenery facing a lagoon with direct access to an unspoiled and secluded beach. The decor of the villa celebrates local artistic talent: pieces by local artistes carefully selected by us, adorn the walls throughout the property.
Sihina is conveniently located on the south western coast of Sri Lanka and is a comfortable one and half hour drive using the southern express way.

The neighborhood
There are several Turtle Hatcheries within walking distance which are maintained for the survival of Sea Turtles for the next generation. It’s fascinating to see the efforts undertaken by these hatcheries to protect these species. If you are lucky you will also be able to see turtles coming ashore right outside the villa to lay their eggs in the night.
Madu Ganga is located in the coastal town of Balapitiya just 15 minutes away and is considered the last remaining tract of pristine mangrove forest in Sri Lanka. Boat excursions are available and is an experience not to be missed.
Lunuganga, the home of architect Geoffrey Bawa is only a 13 Km drive away, and is definitely worth a visit. Another beautiful property that can be visited is the sprawling gardens of Brief. This is the home of Bewis Bawa, Geoffrey’s brother who lead a colorful life and was a well known landscapist in his time. Situated in Beruwala, it is only a 20 Km drive from Sihina.
The historic Galle fort initially built by the Portugese and fortified by the Dutch dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries is a 45 minute drive on the Galle road. The fort is one of the few living forts in the world today and a definite must see.
During the seasonal months (October to May) you will get the chance to see the traditional age old Sri Lankan way of catching fish. The local fisherfolk are happy to allow you to participate in the pulling of the nets with them. A ride on their catamaran to lay the nets is also worth experiencing .The Chefs at Sihina, regularly purchase fish from the fresh catch of the day. You can also arrange for a boat ride in the lagoon using a canoe owned by a local villager and try your luck at catching some lagoon fish which can be cooked for your meal.
